The Interpol on Wednesday issued a blue corner notice on the request of Gujarat police, to help locate self-styled godman Nithyananda, who had fled India without a passport to save himself from rape cases registered against him in Karnataka. He is wanted in India for multiple cases of rape and abduction. In November last year, an FIR was registered against Nithyananda after two girls went missing from his ashram in Ahmedabad. The Gujarat Police is now planning to request for an Interpol red corner notice against self-styled godman Nithyananda. A blue corner notice, merely seeks information about a person's whereabouts and activities, but a red corner notice requests law enforcement agencies across the world to provisionally detain the person named. However, agencies are not duty-bound to act on a red corner notice.
