Black Friday: India logs over 2.34 lakh Covid cases, record deaths

It was the Black Friday for India as the country reported its sharpest daily spike in Covid cases and record number of deaths. India logged over 2.34 lakh new infections in 24 hours, according to the data released by the health ministry on Saturday morning. This is the third straight day when India's has seen its Covid tally rise by over 2 lakh cases. With 1,341 deaths due to the virus in the last 24 hours, the country saw its deadliest day of pandemic this year. The total number of Covid-19 deaths have now crossed 1.75 lakh. Active cases have also jumped up to nearly 16.8 lakh. Govt said that close to 12 crore people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 so far.
