BJP ally Shiromani Akali Dal on Monday announced that it will not fight the February 8 Delhi assembly polls, openly accepting differences with the BJP over the Citizenship law and NRC. Akali Dal Leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa said, that Akali Dal welcomed the amended law but never demanded that any one religion be excluded. He added the party can't accept that Indians have to stand in queues to prove their identity. "SAD and BJP have an old relationship, but after stand by Sukhbir Badal ji on CAA, which was to include people from all religions, BJP leadership wanted us to reconsider this stand. So, we decided to not fight these polls instead of changing our stand. We will not compromise on our ideology", Sirsa said.
