Madurai's Muniyandi swami temple serves biryani as prasad during the Muniyandi Festival. It has been a tradition for the past 83 years. Almost 1,000 kilograms of rice, with 250 goats and 300 chickens are used to make the biryani, which is first offered to the deity. It is believed that Lord Muniyandi was a big fan of biryani. The temple relies on public donations for the event every year.
