Bengal Assembly passes resolution against farm laws amid ruckus

Jan 28, 2021 19:29 IST

The West Bengal government on Thursday passed a resolution in the state assembly against the three farm laws. The resolution termed the 3 farm laws as favourable to private corporates and being anti-farmer.

The resolution added that the farm laws will create a situation where govt will be forced to stop the purchase of farm produce and the public distribution system will collapse, food security will be hampered and hoarding, black marketing will increase.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, "We urge the central govt to repeal the laws. BJP always maligns every agitation as a terrorist activity! BJP is burning the entire country like Lanka Kand of Ramayana. This law is totally anti-farmer. They pushed it using brute force. We are fully with the agitating farmers."
