Bengal defections: BJP jeers Didi, TMC says ‘minor issue’

May 28, 2019 21:50 IST

After making deep inroads into Bengal, the BJP has received another shot in the arm in Mamata Banerjee ruled state. Five days after Lok Sabha results, two MLAs, 56 municipal councillors and three rural body representatives of Trinamool switched over to the saffron camp. A Left legislator, too, joined the BJP. Unnerved by the defections, the ruling Trinamool said it was a minor issue. Bengal Urban Development Minister and Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim said when a ship is rocked in the face of a storm, the rats jump into the sea without knowing their fate.
