BCCI invites bids for owning and operating 2 new IPL teams

Aug 31, 2021 17:03 IST | By Editorji News Desk

BCCI on Tuesday released the tender to acquire rights to own and operate 2 new IPL teams. In its statement, the Indian cricket board said that the Governing Council of IPL is inviting bids for owning and operating 2 new teams that will be a part of the cash-rich league from next year.

The detailed terms and conditions will only be made available to the bidders after they pay a non-refundable fee of ₹10 lakhs, the board said. The last date for the submission of this fee is October 5th. The statement however did not mention any specific criteria for filing the tender.

The lucrative league which currently has 8 teams will turn into a 10-team competition from 2022.
