As PM Modi addressed a massive rally at Kolkata's Brigade Parade Ground, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stayed away from the city.
Didi along with women leaders of Trinamool Congress took to the streets in Siliguri to hold a protest rally against fuel price hike. Thousands of women joined Mamata Banerjee in Darjeeling with many carrying empty LPG cylinders on their head.
Bengal minister Chandrima Bhattacharya and TMC MP Mimi Chakraborty also accompanied Mamata to north Bengal. The Trinamool Women's Wing says the rally has been organised ahead of International Women's Day to mobilise the support of women and homemakers against the fuel price hike.
