Bangladesh to get 2 million Covishield doses from India as ‘gift’

Bangladesh will receive two million (20 lakh) doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine, Covishield from India as a gift on January 20th, the country’s foreign ministry said on its Facebook page. It added that “a special flight of India carrying the consignment will land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka’ on Wednesday. The ruling Awami League party posted on Twitter that Bangladesh is set to get two million (20 lakh) doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, which would be in addition to 30 million doses that the government has contracted for with the Serum Institute of India.
