Australia has reported a record rise in coronavirus infections and deaths. The worst-hit state of Victoria logged more than 700 new cases and 13 deaths. The state is battling a major outbreak in the aged care sector and among healthcare workers. The 723 new cases marked the 25th consecutive day of triple-digit increases in Australia’s second most populous state. From Thursday midnight, residents of Victoria will not be allowed any visitors to their homes and wearing face masks has been made mandatory for all, premier Daniel Andrews has announced.
