At least five people were killed and many injured in Tamil Nadu as Cyclone Nivar slammed into the southern state and neighbouring Puducherry late Wednesday night. Atulya Mishra, Tamil Nadu’s additional chief secretary told ANI that over 100 huts were damaged and 380 trees which were uprooted have been removed. Mishra said there is a a complete restoration of essential services. Meanwhile home minister Amit Shah on Thursday spoke to chief ministers of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and assured them of all possible help from the Centre.
