Anushka Sharma trolled over Bengali folk song used in 'Bulbbul'

Jun 29, 2020 19:36 IST

Anushka Sharma-produced new film on Netflix, 'Bulbbul' is facing social media flak over the lyrics of an age-old Bengali folk song used in the film. Netizens are upset with the lyrics of the song titled 'Kalankini Radha' because they feel it depicts Radha in a negative way. Alleging that Anushka Sharma is disrespecting Hindu religious sentiments by producing a film that has a song like this, netizens have demanded the makers to pull down the song. Meanwhile, 'BoycottNetflix' has become a top trend on Twitter as netizens have alleged that its Telugu film 'Krishna And His Leela' is an 'insult to Hindu Gods'. Expressing their displeasure about the film, users also lashed out at the OTT platform and the makers of the movie for allegedly destroying 'moral values' by 'using sex to engage audiences'.
