According to a recent report, the total number of COVID-19-related email attacks has seen a massive surge by 667 per cent since the end of February. Cloud-based security and data protection firm Barracuda Networks detected 467,825 spear-phishing email attacks between March 1 and March 23, out of which 9,116 were related to COVID-19. The report added that among these coronavirus-related attacks, about half of them were scams, 34 per cent were brand impersonation attacks, 11 per cent were blackmail, and the rest 1 per cent was business email compromise.
