AMU VC pens open letter to students, regret police action

Days before the Aligarh Muslim University is set to reopen after winter break, Vice Chancellor Tariq Mansoor penned an open letter to the students. Regretting police action at the university on the night of December 15, Mansoor said that the safety of the students was his primary concern and assured them, that they have full right to protest peacefully. He also added that the decision to call the police was taken in 'good faith and a clear conscience' and appealed to the students 'to consider with an open mind', the circumstances that compelled him to take the steps.
