Expressing anger and anguish over the worsening air pollution in Delhi, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh penned an emotional letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, pointing out the need for evolving a consensus on tackling the issue, on an urgent basis. Captain Amarinder Singh added that the parties need to rise above political differences to deal with the issue. He also wrote that his state, Punjab is not 'oblivious to the misery' of the people in Delhi, although many might think otherwise. Punjab CM also admitted that stubble fires, were contributing to the toxic levels of air pollution.
