Airlines may suffer $252 billion revenue loss due to COVID-19

Mar 26, 2020 11:30 IST

According to an updated analysis by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the global air transport industry may suffer a $252 billion revenue loss due to COVID-19, about 44% below 2019’s figure. This is in a scenario where travel restrictions to contain the spread of the coronavirus last for up to three months followed by a gradual economic recovery later this year. Many countries around the world have imposed tight restrictions on international air travel. The full-year passenger demand is likely to decline by 38% compared to 2019, as per their assessment.
