After rescue, Gaza's only grand piano makes public comeback

Nov 26, 2018 13:22 IST

The only grand piano in the Gaza Strip was played in public for the first time in a decade. An Israeli airstrike in 2014 destroyed the theater that housed it, leaving the instrument unplayable. Some 300 people attended the performance with Japanese and local artists performing for them. The Japanese government donated the piano in 1998, following interim peace accords between Israel and the Palestinians.
