Former AIADMK leader VK Sasikala was formally released from Bengaluru's Central Jail after spending four years in prison in a corruption case. The former aide of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, will however continue to be at Victoria Hospital for four to five days more days as she is being treated for the coronavirus infection. Sasikala had contracted the virus on January 20, days ahead of her scheduled release. Hospital authorities have said she is now stable, adding that she is "conscious, alert and well oriented". A huge crowd of her supporters lined up outside the hospital, raising slogans in her favour and distributed sweets in celebration.
