A stunning example of Muslim architecture in Gujarat's ancient city

Jan 12, 2020 10:05 IST

The Tomb of Sikander Shah at Champaner in Gujarat is a rare example of Muslim architecture. The ruler of Champaner, an ancient city 45 kilometers from Vadodara, was buried here with his two brothers in the year 1526 AD. The mausoleum is a beautiful single storied sandstone structure with seven domes and is famous for its remarkable aesthetics and craftsmanship. The interiors are adorned with delicate floral patterns and geometric designs. The best time to visit Champaner is between the months of October and February.
