RTI: Govt owes over ₹1146.86cr to AI for VVIP charter flights

In reply to an RTI application, Air India has revealed that the Centre owes more than 1146.86 crore rupees to the national carrier for VVIP chartered flights. The data shows that defence ministry owes 211.17 crore rupees, Cabinet Secretary and PMO has outstanding bills of 543.18 crore rupees and external affairs ministry has debt of 392.33 crore rupees. The pending bills according to data dates back nearly 10 years and also indicates that the debt has risen over 822 crore since January this year.
