Meat samples in the UK contain ‘unspecified meat’

Sep 07, 2018 13:26 IST

A report published by BBC and Food Safety Agency has found that 145 out of 665 meat samples collected in the UK contained ‘unspecified meat’. The samples were collected from supermarkets, restaurants and food retailers. They were found to contain DNA samples of as many as four different animals, while some had no trace of the meat mentioned on the food label. The DNA samples of cow were found to be the most contaminated, followed by pig, chicken, sheep and turkey.
