8 states cumulatively account for 84.5% of the 68,020 fresh Covid-19 infections recorded in a day, the Union Health Ministry said on Monday.
Leading the pack with the highest rise of 40,414 cases, Maharashtra is followed by Karnataka, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Chhattisgarh.
Barring Gujarat, the other 7 states also account for 81.79% of the daily fatalities with Maharashtra leading the grim record with 108 deaths.
India’s active caseload of 5,21,808 cases constitutes 4.33% of the total infections. A net rise of 35,498 has been recorded in the daily active caseload.
