The 7th edition of the Tawang Festival began with a whole lot of fanfare in Arunachal Pradesh on the 29th of October. The annual festival is organised by the Tourism Department and has been named so after the hill station Tawang where it is held. Several local tribes and the major tribal community Monpas welcome tourists from all over the country for three days of festivities. Celebrations began with the religious tradition of “Sebang” during which the monks of the Tawang monastery moved to the festival spot in a grand procession. The Dance of Yak, tribal street performances and colourful exhibitions of local handicrafts are some of the major attractions of the cultural festival.
