Marches were held in Paris and with a dozen of French cities to condemn femicide, domestic violence and other forms of gender-based violence in the country. Using the hashtag #NousToutes (All of Us), about 35,000 people wearing purple clothes marched in the streets of Paris alone. Protesters and activists accuse the authorities of turning a blind eye to the problem. Advocacy groups say at least 137 women in France died at the hands of their partner in 2019 alone. The march was timed days before the French government plans to announce new measures to tackle domestic violence.
