India on Monday recorded over 78,000 coronavirus for second day in a row. According to the health ministry data released on Monday morning, 78,512 fresh Covid cases and close to a 1,000 deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours. The country has seen sharp spike of over 75,000 daily cases in the last week. The country has registered over five lakh cases in just a week. Covid case tally has now crossed 36 lakh and fatalities have gone over 64,000. There are 7.8 lakh active cases currently in the country and more than 27 lakh have so far recovered.

Amid concerns among some OTT players about the new digital media rules, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar on Thursday said his ministry will partner with the industry players to make the audience experience better. He asserted that the guidelines focus on self-classification of content and not on any form of censorship.
Javadekar, after a meeting with representatives of OTT platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hotstar and Alt Balaji, also said that they have welcomed the government's new guidelines.
The Centre on February 25 had notified new rules and guidelines for OTT platforms and digital news media, requiring them to make public their details and having a grievance redressal system in place.

The poll panel said that such hoardings and advertisements of govt schemes violate the model code of conduct.
