The Delhi government has directed the heads of over 550 govt and MCD schools to start installing sanitary napkin incinerators with smoke control units in toilets for girls.
The Education Ministry's Project Approval Board (PAB) has asked for locations to be identified and installation work to be started in 3,204 toilet blocks.
The school principals are expected to make all immediate arrangements for proper power supply with power points at the proposed installation locations.
The cost of these will be borne by the schools from Vidyalaya Kalyan Samiti funds or grant in aids, the Directorate of Education (DoE) has said in a letter.
Girl students will be trained every month by principal till all are proficient in using the machines, the letter added.
