'The Shawshank Redemption' | 1994 Where to watch: Netflix There have been very few films that talk about hope and optimism with such depth as 'The Shawshank Redemption'. Featuring Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman in the lead, the film follows the life of two men in jail and the bond they develop, as they find solace and redemption through acts of common decency. 'Psycho' | 1960 Where to watch: Amazon Prime Video Are you into filmmaking? Well, then Alfred Hitchcock’s 'Psycho' is a lesson in filmmaking. Known to be a benchmark in crime thrillers, the 1960 classic film is a story of an inn-keeper named Norman Bates who appears to be normal, but is somehow involved in the murder of a woman who once stayed at his inn. 'The Shining' | 1980 Where to watch: Netflix Directed by Stanley Kubrick, 'The Shining' is a psychological horror film, adapted from Stephen King’s novel by the same name. Featuring Jack Nicholson in the lead, the film centres around the life of a family who head to an isolated hotel for the winter, where isolation causes the father to lose his sanity.
