5 BAT bids thwarted, India hits back with Bofors: report

Aug 04, 2019 11:02 IST

Following five intrusion attempts by Pakistan’s Border Action Team or BAT on the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, India has given befitting reply in the past few days, The Indian Express reported. The report quoting sources said Pakistan Army started artillery fire on Indian posts, which led to a retaliatory response from the Indian side, including the use of Bofors 155mm artillery guns, which were used north of Pir Panjal ranges after a long time. The report said the use of artillery guns portends a breakdown of the informal agreement between the two armies in April, when they had agreed to not undertake calibre escalation during ceasefire violations on the LoC.
