5,000 anti-doping tests to be conducted at Tokyo Olympics

Jul 21, 2021 12:39 IST | By Editorji News Desk

World Anti Doping Agency and International Testing Agency have agreed to conduct close to 5,000 in and out-of-competition samples for dope testing at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Claiming that it will be one of the strictest Olympic Games ever, the Anti Doping authorities are leaving no stone unturned to ensure clean conduct of the games.

From the collection of blood and urine samples to testing, the process will be independent of the International Olympic Committee and will be handled by the Anti-Doping division of the Court of Arbitration of Sports.

Interestingly, in December last year, the Anti-Doping agency had proposed over 25,000 tests which makes this one of the most extensive Pre-Games Anti-Doping programs in the history of the Olympics.
