42% Indians stocked up on chocolates during lockdown: IIM-L

Jun 29, 2020 17:18 IST

Researchers from the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow (IIM-L) have found that nearly 42 per cent of consumers in India stocked up on chocolates in their homes during the lockdown period. The purchase was either to keep children happy or to curb dessert cravings. The team's other findings were that 39 per cent consumers experimented with newer brands which were usually not in their purchase list during the first phase of lockdown. 53 per cent of the people surveyed said they spend their free time watching television, while only 24 per cent of respondents said they read books or followed the news during this time.
