Briefing the media, Principal Scientific Advisor to the govt, Prof K. Vijay Raghavan said, 30 groups in the Indian industry and academia are working on developing the Covid-19 vaccine. He said, vaccines take 10-15 years to develop but India is trying to develop it in a year but for that, we need a parallel process. He added that when the vaccine is made it will not be a switch, everybody, from the youngest to oldest will need a vaccine. In a unique initiative, he said the AICTE and CSIR have embarked on a drug discovery hackathon, this is a high-end hackathon where students are trained with information on how to do computational drug discovery and those promising will be selected.
