Aug 04, 2020 19:32 IST

New research studying anxiety and depression in Covid-19 survivors has found that more than half of hospitalised Covid-19 patients suffered from a psychiatric disorder a month later. Experts from San Raffaele hospital in Milan report that, based on clinical interviews and self-assessment questionnaires, 40% of patients said they developed insomnia, depression for 31%, anxiety for 42% and PTSD was reported by 28% of Covid-19 survivors. The study of 265 men and 137 women published the journal Brain, Behavior and Immunity also found that female patients suffered more than males, scoring higher in all the measures. The team recommended more research on inflammatory biomarkers to diagnose and treat emergent psychiatric conditions.
