Over 25 million couples in India suffered amid the Covid-19 pandemic, due to interrupted access to contraceptives, a report by Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS has revealed.
It further added that health officials in low and middle-income countries are preparing for a rise in new births due to this interrupted access.
Analyzing the impact of the pandemic in the long run, the report estimated that there could be 123,000 to 293 000 new HIV infections and 69,000 to 148,000 new AIDS-related deaths between 2020 and 2022.
The report stated that inequalities must be tackled to end the battle.
