As India's daily Covid count fell sharply, the health ministry on Wednesday released data, comparing the country&rsquo;s new cases per million population in the last seven days with those in some of the world&rsquo;s worst-affected countries. The data shows that India reported just 110 cases per million population, easily among the lowest in the world, in the last seven days. While the United States, which is the worst hit country, reported close to 4,000 cases per million population, the United Kingdom saw over 3,600 cases.

Amid concerns among some OTT players about the new digital media rules, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar on Thursday said his ministry will partner with the industry players to make the audience experience better. He asserted that the guidelines focus on self-classification of content and not on any form of censorship.
Javadekar, after a meeting with representatives of OTT platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hotstar and Alt Balaji, also said that they have welcomed the government's new guidelines.
The Centre on February 25 had notified new rules and guidelines for OTT platforms and digital news media, requiring them to make public their details and having a grievance redressal system in place.

The poll panel said that such hoardings and advertisements of govt schemes violate the model code of conduct. It has directed that such hoardings and advertisements should be brought down within 72 hours.
