'Babar Azam will be the PM of Pakistan in 2048' says Sunil Gavaskar, if Pakistan win the T20 World Cup

As current Pakistan captain Babar Azam roared back to form ahead of the all-important final of the ongoing T20 World cup, fans and experts have drawn comparisons of the unpredictability in the current world cup to the World Cup of 1992.

In the 1992 world cup Pakistan beat England in the finals under Imran Khan, who later went on to become the Prime Minister of the country. In reference to that, Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar made a hilarious statement that shocked everyone.

He said, "If Pakistan do win the World Cup, in 2048 Babar Azam will be the prime minister of Pakistan." Gavaskar's statement left his co-panellists Shane Watson and Michael Atherton in splits.

Pakistan defeated New Zealand in the first semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022 where Babar Azam scored a fine half-century. The Men in Green were on the verge of going out in the group stage itself, but a remarkable turnaround by them and a shocking Proteas loss to the Netherlands ensured they went all the way to the finals.
