KL Rahul ruled out, Rishabh Pant to lead India in South Africa T20Is

Indian Captain KL Rahul has been ruled out of the 5-match series due to an injury to his right groin, Rishabh Pant, who was named his deputy earlier, has now been named captain.

India suffered a major blow ahead of the T20I series against South Africa, with captain KL Rahul ruled out due to a right groin injury.

In Rahul's absence, wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant who was named his deputy earlier will now lead Team India against the Proteas. Hardik Pandya, who led the Gujarat Titans to IPL glory late last month, has been named the vice-captain.

This is the first time Pant has been given the leadership duty for the national side.

All eyes will now be on the Uttarkhand-born cricketer, who is regarded as Dhoni's protégé. Before his elevation to captain of Team India, Pant has lead the Delhi Capitals in the previous two seasons of the Indian Premier League.

Meanwhile, chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav has also been ruled out of the five-match series after he was hit on his right hand while batting in the nets on Tuesday evening.
