'We have 1028 days left': Climate change activist interrupts French Open semifinals

A climate activist interrupted the semifinal match between Casper Ruud and Marin Cilic at the French Open with a message 'we have 1028 days left' on Friday.

During the third set of the semifinal clash, doning a white tee with a message written over it a protester invaded the clay court. The young activist used glue and metal wires to attach herself to the nets. Both the players were asked to immediately leave the court and the game was delayed by 13 mins.

The message displayed on her tee read, 'we have 1028 days left'. This apparently was in protest to the French government's passive approach against Climate change. The woman, identified as 22-year-old Alizee is reported to be associated with Derniere Revolution, a climate change group that has claimed responsibility for the protest. On their website, the woman said, 'we are in 2022 and it is time to look reality in the face, the world to which politicians are sending us is a world to which Roland Garros will no longer exist.

Her message as per the post on the website was meant to highlight that less than 3 years are left to determine the future of humanity. As per the post on the website, the countdown began on March 28, 2022, the date on which the citizens entered into civil resistance.

She was eventually removed from the court and the game resumed that later saw Norway's Casper Ruud winning. He will face Rafael Nadal in the French Open final on Sunday.
