Aryna Sabalenka defends her title; Crowned Women's Singles Champion at Australian Open 2024

128 women started their Australian Open 2024 journey 13 days ago and 127 matches later it was once again Aryna Sabalenka who defended her title and was crowned the women's singles champion at the Rod Laver Arena on Saturday.

2nd seed Sabalenka thrashed Qinwen Zheng, who was seeded 10 places below her, in straight sets.

The Belarusian was ruthless from the word go and secured an early break of serve, before saving a pair of break points to skip out to a 3-0 lead. She eventually won the 1st set 6-3.

Sabalenka continued to display her raw power as she ran away with the second set 6-2 and claimed back-to-back titles in Melbourne.

Interestingly, it is only her second Grand Slam title and both have come at the first Grand Slam of the year, the Australian Open.
