Contrary to initial reports which suggested that Martin Guptill might miss New Zealand's clash vs India in the T20 World Cup 2021, The Kiwis are expecting their opener to regain fitness ahead of the crucial game.

New Zealand Cricket in a statement said that though Guptill badly bruised his toe during the game vs Pakistan and it's pretty sore, but the sense is that he will still be available for Sunday night. He will be further assessed during training. The Black Caps have already lost fast bowler Lockie Ferguson due to a calf muscle tear.

Both India and New Zealand lost their opening games of the tournament to Pakistan and another loss here would push one of these 2 sides on the cusp of elimination.
