India vs England: Suryakumar Yadav credits Indian skipper Rohit Sharma for his growth

In all the 8 ODI innings that SKY has played, he has scored 294 runs at an average of 49.

With his impeccable 360-degree hitting skills, Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav has emerged as one of India’s batting mainstays, and how!

The 31-year-old batter is building on a legacy, innings by innings. His quality of 'keeping the scoreboard ticking' has made him an indispensable part of India’s playing XI in the limited overs formats. The prolific middle-order batter, however, credits it to Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, alongside whom, SKY has played in IPL and domestic cricket.

Insisting that it is his ‘payback time’, Yadav acknowledged the consistent confidence that Rohit Sharma showed in him.

'I've learned a lot from him and I'm really happy he's shown a lot of confidence in me. I still remember during 2020 he won the IPL second leg. I was not going through a good patch and he was the one who had a lot of chat, around, with me. I was really happy with the time. The way things are going I mean I'd really like to, I mean pay back that confidence by scoring runs and winning the game for the team', SKY said in a press conference, on the eve of the 3rd ODI against England.

The ace Mumbai Indians cricketer who has displayed his dominance in IPL too by being constantly among the top-scorers for the franchise, notched up a T20I century as well. His fighting 100 in India's 17-run loss in the 3rd T20I vs England, earned him a lot of appreciation.

The skipper too lavished praise on the batter's knock and said, he pretty much did everything right today. Just slightly disappointed that it couldn't be right till the end, but nothing taking away from that kind of knock. You don't get to see that every now and then. So, we will take that with both hands as a team and I'm pretty sure about him as well'
