IND vs BAN: Team India penalised for slow over-rate in 1st ODI vs Bangladesh

India skipper Rohit Sharma pled guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction which prevented any further hearing on the same.

Team India was fined 80 percent of their match fees for maintaining a slow over-rate in their first ODI against Bangladesh in Mirpur, on Sunday.

The Men in Blue fell four overs short of the target and were eventually sanctioned by the match referee Ranjan Madugalle as stated by an ICC release.

According to Article 2.22 of the ICC code of conduct for players and player support personnel, players are fined 20 percent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time.

India skipper Rohit Sharma pled guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction which prevented any further hearing on the same.

India lost by 1 wicket in their 1st ODI against Bangladesh and will look to level the 3-match series in the 2nd ODI on Wednesday.
