Rafael Nadal, the 22-time Grand Slam champion, continued his comeback from injury with a resounding 6-1, 6-2 victory against Australia's Jason Kubler at the Brisbane International on Thursday. The Spanish maestro was sidelined for a year due to hip surgery and subsequent recovery.

Currently ranked in the 600s, Nadal entered the tournament on a wild card and is eagerly seeking crucial match practice before the Australian Open later this month. His first match back, a successful outing against 2020 US Open winner and ex-world No.3 Dominic Thiem set the stage for his impressive performance in Brisbane.

In his latest match against Kubler, currently the world's 63rd-ranked player, Nadal dominated from the outset. He quickly secured 12 of the initial 13 points, showcasing his renowned prowess on the court. Throughout the match, Nadal executed 20 winners and wrapped up his victory in a swift 83 minutes.

Up next for Nadal is another Australian contender, Jordan Thompson, whom he will face in the quarter-finals on Friday. This tournament is a significant step for Nadal as he gears up for the upcoming challenges at the Australian Open, demonstrating that he remains a formidable force in the world of tennis.
