Star England all-rounder Ben Stokes has decided to bring the curtains down on an illustrious ODI career as he has decided to retire from the 50-over format. England's 1st ODI vs South Africa will be his last.

In a lengthy statement, the 31-year-old said that he can't give his teammates 100% of himself in the ODIs anymore and the England shirt deserves nothing less from anyone who wears it. 'Three formats are just unsustainable for me now,' added Stokes.

Stokes was instrumental in England winning their maiden ODI World Cup in 2019 but hasn't enjoyed great success in the 50-over format ever since. In the recently concluded ODI series vs India, Stokes could only manage 48 runs in 3 outings.
