Mercedes-Benz has launched the new-generation C-Class in India. Prices start at Rs. 55 Lakh for the C 200, going up to Rs. 61 lakh for the top-spec C 300d variant. All prices are ex-showroom India. The fifth-generation C-Class arrives with three engine options that include the 1.5-litre turbo petrol as well as a 2.0-litre diesel engine in two states of tune. All three engines also get an integrated starter generator with EQ Boost, which provides an additional 15 bhp of extra power and 200 Nm of extra torque. The new C-Class is heavily inspired by the S-Class in terms of design and arrives in two styling trims - AMG and Avant Garde. The luxury sedan has also grown in proportions and is now 10 mm wider than its predecessor with a 25 mm longer wheelbase. The legroom has also increased considerably. The cabin is also tech-laden with the latest generation MBUX based on NTG 7, connected car technology, ADAS systems and more. The new C-Class will take on the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4, Volvo S60 and the likes in the segment.

The company clarified the same following a recent media report that stated the Indian auto giant was considering splitting up its auto business into an electric vehicle, a tractor and a passenger vehicle business through a demerger process. The report further stated that the Mahindra Group was seeking funds for the EV unit and will club it with Italian design house Automobili Pininfarina to form a separate company.

The Rolls-Royce Spectre will be the British marque&rsquo;s first-ever electric vehicle and the company has announced that the upcoming offering has begun its winter test near the arctic circle. The first prototypes of the Spectre EV are currently being tested in temperatures under -26 degrees centigrade and further cooled to -40 degrees. Rolls-Royce says the engineers perform very basic tests in extreme conditions on the prototypes to ensure that each system is operational and functions at a basic level in a cold-weather environment. This test is combined with the beginnings of the refinement process that form the foundations of a motor car worthy of the Rolls-Royce badge. This includes NVH tests, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and cooling systems. The company also revealed that the Spectre EV has completed more than half a million kilometres of testing, 25 per cent of the total goal. The new Rolls-Royce Spectre EV will make its global debut in 2023 and it will make its way to India in the future.

The model gets an upgraded 40.5 kWh battery pack with a claimed range of over 437 km on a single charge, which is substantially higher than the 312 km range on the standard Nexon EV. The model also gets a more powerful motor that now produces 141 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. 0-100 kmph comes in under 9 seconds. The Nexon EV Max also brings several upgrades on the feature front including an updated centre console with a new rotary dial and display unit that shows the modes. There's also the new Makarana beige interiors, leatherette seats with ventilation for front passengers, air purifier, wireless charging, auto-dimming IRVM and cruise control. The car also comes with upgraded ZConnect 2.0 connected car tech while there are 4 regen modes that further help improve range. Tata has also improved the charging time on the Nexon EV Max with options of a 3.3 kW charger or a 7.2 kW AC fast charger that helps reduce the charging time to 6.5 hours. Land Rover has taken the wraps off the third-generation Range Rover Sport and the new offering arrives in a more luxurious and tech-laden avatar over the predecessor. The new-generation Range Rover Sport is based on the MLA Flex architecture shared with the larger Range Rover, while the design carries the minimalist theme on the exterior and interior.

The new-generation Range Rover Sport retains is muscular stance with short overhangs, a bold front end and horizontal LED taillights at the rear. The cabin gets a bold and tech heavy update with sustainably sourced materials, a 13.1-inch curved touchscreen equipped with Pivi Pro infotainment system, while there&rsquo;s also a 13.7-inch digital console.

The SUV also comes with Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging and an optional 29-speaker Meridian sound system with speakers integrated in the headrests.
Power comes from a host of powertrains including the mild-hybrid petrol and diesel Ingenium engines, as well as a BMW-sourced 4.4-litre V8. There&rsquo;s also a plug-in hybrid version, while an all-electric version will debut globally in 2024.

The Abhishek Group has been making vehicle safety equipment for decades such as seatbelts, parking sensors, automotive accessories and more. Kaiho Sangyo Japan, meanwhile, specialises in vehicle scrappage. The company says that the new Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility has a capacity to process up to 1,800 vehicles per month and uses the latest technologies to salvage and re-use components from scrapped vehicles as well as recycle commodities like steel and plastic by melting and reusing them in an environment-friendly manner. The company plans to set up another 7 to 8 scrappage facilities across the country within the next few years.

The company said it currently had 14,000 bookings for the new compact sedan with 30 per cent of it for the more powerful 1.5 TSI variant. The company said that it anticipated about 15 per cent of the demand to come from the more expensive version with the current numbers doubling its expectations. This also suggests that the top trims are garnering quite a bit of interest with the 1.5 TSI sold in the fully-loaded Style trim. The high demand also seems to have affected Slavia's waiting period. The 1.0 TSI models have an average waiting period of up to 2 months while the 1.5 TSI sees this number extend up to 4 months.
