Have you ever heard of an ice bath? Taking a dip in the ice can be a refreshing and unique experience. Recently actor Vidya Malavade took a dip for 8 minutes in ice cold water and she loved the experience. Calling it an 'overwhelming experience', the actor revealed that for a Mumbai girl who showers in hot water even during summers, this was exhilarating.

What are the benefits of ice bath?

Talking about the challenge, Vidya shared on her Instagram post that it was all about the breath – “deep inhales through the nose and long exhales through the mouth”. She listed the benefits of ice bath and said, “Improved immunity .. cardiovascular health and muscle recovery, reduces inflammation. It allows your blood to rush towards the organs rejuvenating every cell, nerve, organ even blood making it super invigorating…and once you settle in the cold… it can be absolutely meditative and exhilarating together."

What to keep in mind when taking an ice bath?

When taking an ice bath make sure to remain in cold water only for a specified duration.

Notably, participants typically immerse themselves up to the neck or shoulders and remain in the cold water for a specified duration. Experts emphasize the importance of closely monitoring the duration of time spent in an ice bath, as extended exposure can result in adverse effects such as frostbite or heightened cardiovascular stress.

Excessive cold exposure may also lead to nerve damage, causing numbness or tingling sensations.
