If you’ve ever had burnt food, you know how unpleasant it can be. Unfortunately, burnt food smells pretty bad, too. Here are a few tips to help remove the burnt smell from food.

      Food getting burnt is common, whether you're experienced or new in the kitchen. The easy solution would be to just throw it away. But foods like sauces, gravies, rice, or cake can be saved.

      Here are some tips that can come in handy the next time you burn anything

      Rice items

      If you by chance burn any kind of rice dishes like plane rice, biryani or pulao, do not fret. First, take the cooking pot off the gas. Then shift the burnt rice or biryani to another utensil and place a few pieces of bread on it for about 10 minutes. The burnt smell will be absorbed by the bread slices.

      Gravy or fish/chicken preparation

      If you accidentally burn a curry dish, then not only its taste but its nutrition is also lost. In that case, add some water and a few pieces of pumpkin to the gravy and let it boil until cooked. Then turn off the gas and cover for 10 minutes. The burning smell will be gone completely. Remove the pumpkins before serving.

      Kheer or dal

      It’s very common for dal or kheer to get burnt in an Indian kitchen. In this case, betel leaves commonly known as paan leaves come to rescue. Put 2-3 paan leaves into the kheer or dal and heat them slightly, but do not boil. The burning smell will vanish in a moment.
