IPL 2022: 'Not the end of the world if...' MS Dhoni talks about playoffs race

It hasn't been the perfect season for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as they have lost 7 matches of the 11 played so far in IPL 2022 and with MS Dhoni back as the captain, things have definitely started to improve for CSK. With 4 wins, CSK are up in the 8th spot ahead of Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders on the points table and still have a 3% chance of making it to the playoffs.

Even if Chennai wins their last 3 matches of the season, the 6 points accumulated will take the team to 14 points which could take them to the last four. But captain MS Dhoni isn't worried, he said, "If we make the playoffs, great. But even if we don't it's not the end of the world."

Talking about the mathematical chances of CSK making it to the playoffs, Dhoni said, "I am not a big fan of maths. Even in school, I wasn't good at it. Thinking of the net run rate doesn't help. You just want to enjoy the IPL. When two other teams are playing, you don't want to be under pressure and thinking. You just have to think about what to do in the next game."

CSK have their last 3 games against Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals. A loss at any stage will just know them out of the race but even if they manage to win all 3, the game of chances and net-run rate will continue to haunt them.
