Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended a program on Tuesday celebrating the 70th anniversary of Guru Ram Rai Inter College in Sahaspur, Dehradun.
During the event, he honored several senior individuals and distributed school bags to children.
Commending the School’s Contribution
Extending his congratulations, the Chief Minister highlighted the significant role the school has played in promoting education in the region since its establishment shortly after independence. Applauding Principal Dr. Ravindra Kumar Saini’s 35 years of dedicated service, he remarked, "the students taught by him are achieving success in various fields across the country."
A Role Model for ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’
He especially praised the school’s initiative to educate girls from underprivileged families, describing it as a powerful step towards societal progress. "This effort is bringing positive change in the society," he noted.

Speaking to the students, the Chief Minister emphasized the value of time. "It is invaluable and never comes back," he said, urging them to work diligently and pursue their dreams to bring pride to their school and region.
Anti-Cheating Law Strengthens Exam Integrity
Highlighting reforms in education, the Chief Minister stated that the state’s anti-cheating law has brought significant improvements in examination transparency. "The copy mafia is in jail and not a single paper has been leaked in the last three years," he said. He also added that over 20,000 youth have secured government jobs transparently during this period.
Education and Culture as Pillars of Progress
He underscored the importance of moral and academic education, stating, "only education and culture make a person eligible for the country and society," and stressed character development.
Modernizing Education in Uttarakhand
The Chief Minister pointed out that Uttarakhand was the first state to implement the National Education Policy 2020. He informed that 141 PM Shri Vidyalayas and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Residential Schools are under construction.
Improving Infrastructure and Resources
He announced that 50 virtual classrooms have been set up across 13 districts and NCERT books are now mandatory in all schools. Additionally, meritorious students are receiving incentives between Rs 600 to Rs 1200, along with opportunities for educational tours across India.
Support for Disaster-Affected Children
The Chief Minister also highlighted a special education scheme launched for children who lost their parents due to disasters, epidemics, or accidents.
Strengthening Higher Education and Sports
Announcing further development, he said that 20 model colleges and 9 new colleges are being established, along with women's hostels, IT labs, and exam halls. Multiple sports initiatives have been rolled out, and he proudly stated that Uttarakhand secured seventh place in the latest National Games.
Government Jobs for National-Level Athletes
He also announced a new policy to provide government jobs to medal-winning athletes at the national level.
