Adi Kailash emerging on global tourism map, says Uttarakhand CM; highlights regional facilities

Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the Adi Kailash region, it has quickly gained recognition on the global tourism map, with the Uttarakhand government committed to improving facilities for visitors, said Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

Prime Minister Modi visited Adi Kailash on October 12, 2023, where he paid respects at the holy Parvatikund, interacted with locals, and engaged with Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel. CM Dhami shared a video of PM Modi praying at Adi Kailash, accompanied by tourists praising the region's improved facilities.

One tourist mentioned, "The work is really good, we are really enjoying it," while another commented, "The roads are good here, other people are also wanting to see the area now."

A third tourist attributed the enhancements to PM Modi's visit, saying, "After Modi ji came, then a lot of facilities also came." Another visitor expressed her long-time desire to visit the region, saying, "We wanted to come to Adi Kailash for a long time, so we are finally here."

Following his prayers at Adi Kailash, PM Modi mingled with locals at Gunji village in Pithoragarh district and took blessings from elderly residents. Despite a busy schedule, PM Modi also spent time with ITBP personnel stationed at the region's borders. After paying his respects at Parvati Kund, Modi proceeded to Gunji, located 11,000 feet above Pithoragarh.

Adi Kailash is considered a "replica" of Mount Kailash in Tibet and holds immense religious significance for Hindus, Jains, Buddhists, and Bon Po followers. It is associated with Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

The region is known for its holy sites, including the Shiva temple, Parvati Sarovar Lake, and the Gauri Kund Pond. These sites draw pilgrims annually. Additionally, the area’s stunning landscapes and challenging trekking routes make it a prominent destination for both spiritual and adventure tourism.
