UP 10th board topper trolled for facial hair, netizens angry

Uttar Pradesh’s state board declared the results for class 10 and 12 exams on April 20. Prachi Nigam was declared the 10th board topper with a score of 591/600.

Soon, the teenage girl became the subject of trolling on social media because of her facial hair. Some suggested the young girl focus on grooming, while others used objectionable terms for her.

However, another section of the internet came out in her support. Users congratulated Nigam for her achievements, and advised her to ignore naysayers who set impossible beauty standards for women. Some also pointed out that hormonal imbalances also cause increased facial hair.

A user on X wrote in her defence, “The trollers don't even think twice what they're trolling and who they're trolling. It's pathetic. I wish she didn't read those comments ever, it may harm her confidence forever. Hormonal imbalance can occur to anyone anytime. We must refrain from mocking it.”

In an interview given to ANI, Nigam said she wants to crack IIT-JEE and aspires to be an engineer. She also suggested students focus on hard work to get to their goals.
